McKean County Ham Radio Club starts licensing class in January 2004 Bradford, PA¾ The McKean County Amateur Radio Club, an affiliated club with the American Radio Relay League (ARRL), will be conducting a Technician licensing class. This class will teach the beginner the theory, safety procedures and station operation to be able to take the Technician tests for an Amateur Radio (HAM) license. Students will get “hands-on” training to show the various types of communications modes available to amateur operators. Students do not need Morse code to use the popular 2 meter and other VHF-UHF band frequencies. Morse code will be offered to those interested in learning it. The class will be held on Monday evenings, from 6:30pm to 9:00pm for an 18 week period beginning on January 19th. The class is open to persons of any age, and no prior experience is necessary. There is no fee for the class. Each participant will need a copy of the book, “Now You’re Talking” Fourth edition, which will be used as our course book. Interested persons should attend the first classes at 6:30pm at the American Red Cross Chapter House at 302 Congress Street in Bradford, PA.
