McKean County Amateur Radio Club Opens On-Line Discussion Center

The McKean County Amateur Radio Club has announced the official opening of its On-Line Discussion Center.  The Discussion Center is an on-line bulletin board that permits discussion of various topics in one of more forums.

Access to the Discussion Center is easy and without cost to the participant.  Point your browser to the following URL address: www.mcarc.net/phpBB2 .  Click on Register in the upper right hand corner and follow the instructions to register.  Please use your call sign as your user ID or Login.  You will need to enter your email address so that the system will send you a validation address.  This happens once when you register and should take a minute or so.  Once you get the email from the system, click on the URL.  You are then registered and able to participate.

Currently there are several forums.  A forum for all registered users called General Discussion which is available for discussion of any amateur radio topic.  Another forum is for Club members whose dues are current called MCARC Club Members.

One feature of the forums is that we can use them to take a poll of participants of the forum.  Once you've answered the poll, then you are able to see the results.  An example of a poll has been placed in the General Discussion Forum about the most important issue facing amateur radio today.

In order to encourage people to try the Discussion Center, there is a prize offered.  Those amateurs who register correctly and participate in the Discussion Center from now until the end of this year will have their calls signs entered into a hat.  On January 1st, a call sign will be pulled out of that hat and the winner will be awarded the prize.

This contest is open to members of the McKean County Amateur Radio Club and to amateurs living in McKean County, Pennsylvania and those counties surrounding McKean County, Pennsylvania.
